The Dust Bowl: Cause and Effect

By: Jackson Pate

The Dust Bowl Video

Mechanized Farming

This was a thing of the future, although it brought great despair. Many farmers brought plows and other mechanized equipment to farm unfarmed land. Wheat began to over produce and it coupled with the great depression. This resulted in farmers going in dept and not making any profit.

The Dust Bowl begins

Crack!Bam! As the fence is torn off and thrown into the house. That is not even the worst thing that has happened yet. They're calling this the Dust Bowl.

Causes and Effects

Plow based farming and the effects

The main reason is because of mechanized farming and plowed based farming. This led to people becoming poor and they could not buy anything. Then the stock market went down and farmers could not make a profit.

Plowed based farming had the worst effect. It made the topsoil weak. Which made it get loose and then blow away. Leaving it vulnerable to drought and inhospitable for growing crops. This made the farmers leave home in search for work. Then finally the farmers would go in debt.
