A teacher has many roles to fill. They are resources for students. Students will come to them seeking information. A teacher must know how to find what the student is looking for. A teacher is also support for the students. Whether its supporting them academically or emotionally. Coach, leader, counselor, etc.. One of the biggest roles a teacher may have is being a mentor. Students look up to teachers and may copy their own behavior and work ethic to match theirs. An older teacher can even be a mentor to a younger teacher who is just starting out. A teacher is also someone who put in extra time for their students, whether it's staying after school to help them study or getting there early in the morning to tutor a group of kids struggling. A teacher must always be willing to learn something new. To ensure that students get all the information they need teachers must educate themselves on the subject first.
