How much does the Earth weigh?

This discovery impacted geology because the gravitational attraction law and formula allows us to find the mass of objects that can not be measured using regular instruments and processes.

The earth weighs 13,170,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 pounds

So, using Newton's theory, and the formula F=G(M1*M2/R*R), we can figure out the Earth's mass by comparing it to near by objects such as the moon.

Because the Earth is floating in outer space, there is no "scale" for us to measure Earth's weight. Newton's theory called "gravitational attraction" allows us to find the mass of two objects using the gravitational force between them.

For example, if you set two bricks next to each other, they will attract one another gravitationally. It is extremely slight, but with very exact instruments,you can measure the gravitational attraction the two bricks have for each other. With this measurement, you can determine the mass of both objects.

Using this theory, scientist discovered

that the Earth's weight can be

determined using objects around it.
