  • The 4 general types of stressors are:
  • Major Life Changes
  • Catastrophes
  • Everyday Problems
  • Environmental Problems

The body's response to stress occurs in 3 stages:

  • Alarm Stage
  • Resistance Stage
  • Exhaustion Stage

What is Stress?

Fight or Flight Response

  • Adrenaline released into blood
  • Heart rate & blood pressure increase
  • Flow of blood to brain increases
  • Pupils open wide
  • Muscles tense
  • Stress is the response of our body to being threatened or challenged
  • You experience stress when situations, events, or people make demands on your body & mind

Types of Stress

There are two type of stress:

  • Eustress= Positive Stress
  • Examples: Sports, Preparing for big goals or events
  • Distress= Negative Stress
  • Examples: Divorce, Unemployment, Money Problems
