Judgment

On June 27, 1986, the Court made the following ruling:

  • Decides that the United States of America, by training, arming, equipping, financing and supplying the contra forces or otherwise encouraging, supporting military and paramilitary activities in and against Nicaragua, has acted, against the Republic of Nicaragua,
  • The very long judgment first listed 291 points, which involved the United States in the "unlawful use of force".

  • The was no a clear evidence that the United States actually exercised such a degree of control.

  • The Charter provides that, in case of doubt, it is for the Court itself to decide whether it has jurisdiction
