Unfair treatment

Animal Farm Chapter 3

Orwell's main intention was to describe the Russian Revolution in 1917. During Nicholas 11 rule, many of Russia's citizens faced great poverty and hunger. Nicholas was shortly removed from his rule after a civil war arrived in the form of a Bolshevik Revolution. He died soon after. The terrible poverty was also faced with Bloody Sunday, a day when unarmed protesters were shot by Nicholas 11's palace.

The pigs began gaining more rights but the other animals were tricked into thinking it was fair.

-Pigs came up with rules

-Stole the apples and put milk in their food

-Kept the literary tools to themselves while making sure they were the ones with most power

-Made the working and profit making decisions

Specific routine

Reading and Writing

In the beginning of chapter three, the animals had begun to work together in order to restore Animal Farm in a better way than Jones and his men ever had. They finished the harvest in two days' less time than Jones and his men. Boxer was the hardest worker saying, "I will work harder!" The animals had also started to produce food more and efficiently for themselves.

Relationship to the Russian Revolution:

~ Nicholas 11 was murdered due to the upheavel and rebellion that rose because of his poor control of the country, and how he let thousands starve. This was also the end of World War 1 and labor camps were formed.

As time went by, the animals developed an organized weekly routine in order to get work done as quickly as possible and in the best possible way.

-No work on Sundays

-Breakfast was later

-A ceremony after breakfast where the week's work was planned, flag hoisting

-Beasts of England

Russian Revolution:

-Napolean was like Stalin, not a good speaker but could convince people

-Snowball was like Trotsky, smart and a good speaker

-The farms consist of a working class and a capitalist which was a system used in the Russian revolution

-The hoof and horn flag is Orwell's vision of communism in relation to the soviet flag

-Horn is industrial workers and hoof is agricultural

The animals had eventually started to learn how to read and write.

-The dogs learned how to read and write quickly but not as easily as the pigs

-Clover learnt the alphabet but couldn't read and write completely

-Boxer couldn't get beyond D

-Mollie refused to learn letters other than the six that spell her name

Napolean had gathered the animals together and made the Seven Commandments, rules that all of the animals should abide by. The animals had also come up with a signature phrase to follow, "four legs good, two legs bad."
