Argon was discovered in 1894 by Lord Rayland and Sir William Ramsay at the University Collage of London. It was discovered by removing all of the Nitrogen, Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide and water from clean air. Earth air contains less than 1% of argon and Mars air contains less than 2% of argon. Is is used for filling incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs to prevent oxygen from corroding the hot filament. Also its used to insulate windows.
