The majority of American Citizens believe that slavery no longer exists ...

However

There are currently 27 million people enslaved around the world. 50,000 of which are in the US alone.

This means there are more slaves now, than there has ever been at any other point in our history.

Conclusion

Sadly the genocide and slavery in Darfur has only subsided since it began in 2003. Civilians continue to bear the brunt of human rights violations and abuses by government forces and armed groups.

“The international community must step up efforts to ensure accountability, and not leave Darfur’s civilian population to bear the brunt of this endless cycle of violence.”
