Beaches

-beaches are formed when waves deposit sand

and other sediment on the shore.

-sand comes from little pieces of weathered rock

broken down and put on the ocean floor then the waves deposit the sand on shore.

- A benefit for the beach is when people play in the sand and mess up the land that the waves deposit the sand to fill the hole/damage when the tide comes in.

- the management for the beach would be filling in the holes/damage to reset the beach for the next day.

Bars

Sand dunes

- A dune is a mound of sand formed when wind blows the sand into a shelter area. Dunes grow as grains of sand piles up.

- the sediment that creates a dune is also from broken down weathered rock blown by the wind to create a dune.

-A benefit for dune is that when people walk on them it damages that piece of land and te wind coud blow it away.

- the management for this would be creating and building board walks, bridges ect. to prevent that.

-bars are formed when sand is deposited by the way the water is flowing to create a part of the ocean higher that the original ocean floor.

-bars get there sediment from the ocean floor when a wave comes in and out it picks up sand/sediment to deposit it where the sand bar is.

-a benefit of a sand bar would be that also when you get in the ocean and step on the sandbar in you make holes, you dig, and damage the bar but it fills the holes and everything you did when the waves deposit the sand in them.

-management for sand bars would be re-filling the holes after we have damaged them and makes them clean and new again.

Spits

-a spit is formed when sand/ sediment is carried down the coastline to create a long piece of land that goes out into the ocean.

-the sand comes from the beach and the waves pick up the sand from the beach and the waves carry the sand down the coastline the way it is flowing to create a spit.

-a benefit of spit could be that when it forms all the way it could start an ecosystem where things could live on or around that spit.

-the management could be that animals that live on could help the erosion of the spit just like grass does.

Delta

-a delta is formed when sediment from a river is being deposited to a lager body of water which carries the sediment quickly then it slows down and settles to create a delta.

-the sediment that forms a delta is from the banks of the river that had been eroded before being deposited.

-a benefit for delta could be that it helps the land around it to not be eroded quickly.

-the management would be that the sand could build a barrier to protect the land around it.
