Use of the flags

Crack The Code

US Army Major Albert Myer in the 1850s developed a flag communication system which used movements of flags or torches at night to communicate. A single flag was moved back and forth similar to Morse code using dots and dashes. It was called "wig-wagging". It was more mobile than optical telegraphy as it only required one flag and a platform to stand on. Also, it could be used at night with two lanterns. it was first used at the Battle of Bull Run in 1861.
