I think that Athens economy was a lot better.They would trade other crops. It seemed a lot easier compared to Sparta's economy where people were used as slaves to produce goods.
The Athenian economy depended on trade. The Athenians would trade money, food, products and services. Athens was located near the sea and was able to trade other city states.
Spartan economy depended on conquering other people and farming.
