What is static electricity?
Aim: Learning about static electricity!
Static electricity is the build up of an electrical charge on the surface of an object. It's called "static" because the charges remain in one area for a while rather than moving or "flowing" to another area.
Lightning is a powerful form of static electricity
The answer is yes static electricity has several uses in the real world. One main use is in printers and photocopiers where static electric charges and attracts the ink, or toner, to the paper. Other uses include paint sprayers, air filters, and dust removal.
1) Everybody has a different material on their own table so that you can make your own experiment.
2) Use the following materials and rub anything you have on your table to it for a while so that it can have static on it.
3) Use the repelling material to make it float like it is magic.
How It Works
It is about static charge. The objects repel from each other when they have the same charges. First the objects have different charges but, once they touch they get the same charge and repel.
