Prominent Wuradjuri activist committed to justice and welfare of Aboriginal Australians

Founded the Aboriginal Legal Service, Aboriginal Medical Service, Aboriginal Tent Embassy, the Aboriginal Children’s Service and the Aboriginal Housing Company

Lived in Cowra NSW and could not read or write as she was excluded from school due to her epilepsy, but could speak 16 languages, moved to Sydney with her family in the mid 1930s

Government awarded her an Order of Australia and an Order of the British Empire for her good work as an activist for Aboriginal Australians
