There are five sounds that can be played on the Urumi.
Open sounds: open sounds can be played by hitting the right head of the drum.
Moaning sounds: moaning sounds can be made by hitting the right head while rubbing the left head with a long curved stick. Sometimes castor oil is used to help with moaning sound.
Talking drum sounds: sound made by hitting right head, squeezing the and holding the two heads together.
Closed sounds: there are two closed sounds you can make by hitting and pressing the drum with the left and right stick.
