Using the open questions from the learning sets, teachers and TAs where challenged to evaluate their own practice and find solutions collectively.

The EEF Toolkit shows us that

Peer-Tutoring and feedback are highly effective.

We asked - how can this help our teachers as well as the children we teach?

We have established Triads of teachers and TAs to plan, observe and feedback to each other. This is linked to a marginal gain.

The seeds from the fruit continue to grow!

As a school, we have used the EEF toolkit to become a learning community where both teachers and students learn together and grow together.

Learning sets have taught us that:

  • you need to make time for reflection
  • meta-cognition is essential for teachers too
  • evaluation is key to success
  • change your mindset - think solutions rather than problems
  • feedback is an essential tool for improving teaching and learning

The Roots - Firm Foundations

  • EEF Toolkit - planted the seed of change within us! It gave us an evidence base for reflecting on:
  • what is working well
  • things that are not working so well
  • where are the best buys - which soil is worth fertilising!
