Hi! I'm Lily Vidra and I am planning a five day trip to Paris, France!

LET'S GO!!!

Paris is one of the most visited cities in the world. This is because of the amazing cultures and history. The buildings and architecture is phenomenal, as is their art. Paris is rich in art and art history. The Louvre, the museum that holds the famous painting by Leonardo de Vinci, the Mona Lisa, receives around 8.8 million visitors each year. Another artistic wonder in Paris is fashion. For many, Paris is considered the fashion capital of the world. It is home to many designers. Paris's wine and food is also popular for tourists.

TRAVEL PLANS

I have decided to fly on American Airlines. I will leave from JFK, with a flight at 5:25 pm, and arrive in Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris at 5:30 am on May 5, 2017. The cost of the flight is $916.

I am flying in the main cabin, so that my friend can join me. The only other option is business class, which is $2,499

HOTEL INFORMATION

I will be staying at the L'Horset Opera Hotel. It is located thirty-four minutes from the airport. There is a Paris Metro two minutes walking distance, and the Eiffel tower is eleven minutes away.

My room is a simple room, with a bed, a closet, a desk, a chair, and a T.V. The cost for a five night stay is $1,375. I am checking into the hotel on May 5, 2017, and checking out on May 10, 2017.

Sights to see

In PARIS

EIFFEL TOWER

The Eiffel Tower is a very popular tourist attraction. More than 7 million people visit the Eiffel tower each year. The Eiffel tower is one of the most well-known symbols of France, along with the baguette and the beret.

LOUVRE MUSEUM

I have decided to see the Louvre Museum because I love art, and a chance to see the Mona Lisa would be breathtaking. The Louvre holds 70,000 works of art, and 2,000 employees maintain the museum and the art.

Cathedrale Notre-Dame

I am visiting the Notre-Dame cathedral because it is one of the most well-known examples of gothic architecture in all of France. It is one of the largest religious buildings in the world, and was built between 1163 and 1345.

It also has SUPER COOL gargoyles

Arc de Triomphe

I have decided to visit the Arc de Triomphe because it is a symbol of France's strength and power. It also recognizes all of the unknown soldiers who sacrificed their lives in world war I. It honors the French army, the Grande Armee.

Sainte-Chapelle

Sainte-Chapelle is an amazing representation of France's talent for stained glass. King Louis IX commissioned the building and stained glass work that went into the masterpiece. There are fifteen massive stained glass windows and the rose takes up the whole western wall.

Centre Georges Pompidou

The Centre Georges Pompidou is a remarkable building because instead of having factilities like electricity cables, water pipes, elevators and escalators are on the outside of the building, rather than the inside. I want to go see this art museum because it has an unusual structure.

Le Frenchie

This restaurant is an inexpensive cafe, but is almost impossible to get a seat at dinner without a reservation. I have decided to go to La Frenchie for lunch.

Opera Garnier

I am going to the Opera Garnire, also known as the Palais Garnier, because the inside is overwhelmingly beautiful. The series of events that inspired the Broadway show 'Phantom of the Opera' happened in the Opera Garnire.

Sacre Coeur

I have decided to visit Sacre Coeur because it is a beautiful, iconic church that rests atop a hill, painting a picture of peace. It is the highest point of Montmarte.

Sorry for the fancy writing! It's so peaceful!

Orsay Museum

I am visiting the Orsay Museum because I find it really cool and interesting how they made the entire museum inside a railway station. Over the course of twenty eight years, 86,401,695 people have came to look at it.

Here is a basic rundown of the money spent on this trip:

In other words, the worst part!

  • Eiffel Tower- I have decided to take the elevator up to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. So, the cost for 12-24 year-olds is 8.50 euros, which in US dollars is $9.37.
  • Louvre Museum- I am booking a "Skip-the-line" access ticket from Viator for $21.86. This pass allows me to breeze pass the lines to buy tickets, and pick-up my prepaid ticket at a tour office at the front of the museum. On top of that, there is an additional fee to get into the museum of 9 euros, which is about $10. So the total cost (in American dollars) is $31.86.
  • Notre Dame Cathedrale de Paris- The price for an adult to go to the Notre Dame Cathedrale is 8.50 euros, which is $9.37.

If this price seems familiar, that's because it is! The price to go on the elevator in the Eiffel Tower is also 8.50 euros!!!

  • Sainte-Chapelle - my entrance ticket will cost 10 euros / $11
  • Arc de Triomphe - I want to climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe to see the view of Paris. My ticket will cost 12 euros / $13.
  • Centre Georges Pompidou - I would like to see the whole museum - the art collections and the exterior. My ticket will cost 18 euros / $20.
  • Le Frenchie - after all this sight-seeing I am ravenous! Time for a delicious lunch at Le Frenchie, which will set me back 41 euros / $45 (worth every penny, yum!)
  • Le Palais Garnier - Now I am hungry for some culture! Off to the opera, where my ticket costs 50 euros / $55. Yikes! But YOLO in Paris, right?
  • Sacre Coeur - The cathedral of the "sacred heart" costs just 6 euros / $7 to enter.
  • Le Musee d'Orsay - I want to spend a whole afternoon here, so I'll get a full museum tour. It costs 12 euros / $13.
