Conclusion

After the research I have done on film title sequences I think it is best for my group to make our title sequence in an independent film makers style. The outcome of the title sequence in this style was effective as it instantly shows codes and conventions of the thriller genre, for example the use of things such as low key lighting, iconography and typography. I also believe the simplicity, however effective, of the title sequence is achievable for my group.I also

believe that they payed more attention to showing the film was a thriller than giving credits to sponsors and production companies.

Se7en Title Sequence

This title sequence is more achievable for my group. This title sequence uses simple editing, lighting effects and household objects to create a scary title sequence. I felt the typography was very effective as it creates a frightening atmosphere amongst the audience and the actors/actresses names appeared in a distorted font which created a scary effect which clearly shows that the film will be of the thriller genre. This is something I would want to incorporate into my opening sequence. Also, there aren't many production companies or sponsors shown in the title sequence.

Mad Max Fury Road Title Sequence

Warner Bros. Pictures Film

There is a black screen throughout the first part of the title sequence with names of actors/actresses appearing in rusty steel or blood red which hints to us that the film is of the thriller genre. There was also a rusty background showing as the production teams credits ran. At the very end the words 'Mad Max' appear in large steal writing on a pitch black background, and the words 'Fury Road' appear in fiery writing. This is a very fancy and professional title sequence which is shown by the graphic quality of the sequence and the amount of sponsors and production companies mentioned. This graphic level may not be achievable for my group with the equipment we have but we can still use some of the ideas shown in this title sequence. However, we do not have sponsors or production companies to include in our title sequence.

Things Found in Thriller Title Sequences

- Narrative Openings (which have titles on screen throughout the opening film)

- Discrete Title Sequence (these sequences are edited separately which stand out from the film opening)

- Title Credits Over a Blank Screen (which are then followed by a narrative opening)

-Stylized Editing (these titles are often heavily edited in post production in order to give the audience an effective film opening)

Film Making Companies

There are two different types of film making companies, major distribution companies (Warner Bros. Pictures and 20th Century Fox) and independent filmmakers.
