Griffith's movie, "The Drive For Life" was edited in a special way. Tom Gunning described the film's editing to be parallel. In some parts it would cut back and forth between the characters on screen.
The way filmmakers presented their motion pictures were in places such as amusement parks, Vaudeville, and Burlesque. These places later on became their origins starting in 1920.

A writer for Harpher's Magazine had noted that the audience was full of people that were ethnically, socially, and economically different. However, when everyone came together, this diverse crowd became one.
Era of the movie palace had begun. The first palace that opened had a 2460 seat regent. These types of palaces given audiences a whole new experience for viewing cinema.

December of 1908, the mayor of New York City made an order to rid of all Nickelodeons. He believed that film was a, "threat to the city's physical and moral well-being."
