Goal Setting

A goal is measurable desired outcome that is planned and achieved. There are two types: short term and long term.

Short Term Goals

A short term goal is a goal that you will achieve in the near future (a day, week, month, even a few months).

Long Term Goal

A long term goal is a goal that you will achieve over a longer period of time (semester, year, two years)

A. Stress is the way the brain and body react to real or imagined events.

Some real events that could cause me stress are:

Bullies

School work

1. Demonstrate how to set a goal and understand how it positively influences my achievement inside and outside of the classroom.

2. Understand how goal setting is an effective strategy for stress management.

*Stress management is the ability to reduce high stress levels and increase positive performance.

*Some ways we can manage stress are:

-Listening to music

-Playing

-Reading a book

-Writing in a journal

-Goal setting

A. Positive mental health is a state of well being in which individuals think positively about themselves and others, cope with stress, and are able to make a positive contribution to their community.

B. Some ways we can keep positive mental health:

-Keep negative stress minimal

-Proper amounts of sleep

-Good nutrition

-Volunteering

*Helps organize tasks to turn into measurable outcomes.

*Can help mark achievement and makes us feel proud of our accomplishments.

*Positive stress is stress that increases your ability to perform and keep positive mental health.

*A few exmples of positive stress are:

-Holidays

*Negative stress is stress that hurts your ability to perform and keep positive mental health.

*A few examples of negative stress are:

-Bullies

-Fight with siblings or friends
