Working-class families as a way of surving tend to have more children, so the family had working hands. Women not only formed a part of this familial labor force, but had to struggle to manage the greater domestic strain of having bigger families.

These women chose a supportive role in the war due to this it opend a career door to women that was reserved to males.They experienced the grim results of war, mutilated bodies, amputated limbs, disease and death. There were more than 620,000 deaths and ten million cases of illness during the war.Through their sacrifices they provided invaluable aid to everyone they touched.

Both Confederate and Union armies denied women the right to enlist in combat roles. Still, that didn’t stop some women from posing as men and joining the battle. The Estimates of the women soldiers known to serve is just under 400, It is difficult to know the number of women disguised themselves as men and enlisted in the service, because women soldiers were only revealed by accident or casualty.

Nationwide,half a million women were members of the Ku Klux Klan. There was evean a female youth group called Tri-K . Many elements of the Klan's platform were intended to appeal to women. Although Klanswomen did not enjoy equality with Klansmen, the Klan shared a position held by many progressive reformers, including many suffragists and feminists, who condemned the use of alcohol as detrimental to society. The Klan opposed "vice" in all forms, including prostitution and gambling. The Klan was active in electoral politics to achieve some of its objectives, and therefore it supported women's right to vote, better yet it supported Klan women voting for Klan-endorsed candidates. Klanswomen also participated in boycotts of businesses owned by Jews and others who were not considered "100% American"

Molly Pitcher are generally attributed to Mary Ludwig Hays. as one story goes William Hays, marys husband trained as an artilleryman. while Mary Hays served as water girls carrying water to drilling infantry troops on hot days. Artillery soldiers also needed a constant supply of fresh water to cool down the hot cannon barrel. hey used a "ramrod" or "rammer" which was a long pole with a wet rag tied to the end—to clean sparks and gunpowder out of the cannon barrel after each shot. as shown i the picture
