Conclusion

  • Leave-in Conditioner RED (acidic 3.0)
  • T.T Leave-in Conditioner LIGHT GREEN (acidic6.0)
  • Nupotion (Locking Solution) BLUE (alkaline 8.0)
  • Defining Cream YELLOW (acidic 5.0)
  • Sulfate-Free Shampoo RED (acidic3.0)

Leave-in Conditioner RED (acidic 3.0)

T.T Leave-in Conditioner LIGHT GREEN (acidic6.0)

Nupotion (Locking Solution) BLUE (alkaline 8.0)

Defining Cream YELLOW (acidic 5.0)

Sulfate-Free Shampoo RED (acidic 3.0)

All the RED to LIGHT GREENS are acid based. The LIGHT GREENS to DARK BLUES are alkaline based. 0-7 is bad but 7 on up is okay.

My hypothesis was right, the Sulfate-free shampoo has acidic compounds in it that maybe harmful to hair. The Curl unleashed leave-in Conditioner is also acidic. The Nupotion (locking solution) is not as harmful for my family's hair it has the pH leve 8.0 which on mt graph is blue .The Defining Cream is a 5.0 which is acidic . The Tangle Taming leave-in Conditioner turned out light Green. Light Green means it has a 6.0 which is also acidic.

Procedure

Independent Variable

Dependent Variable

I did not have to change anything. I did the same Procedure.

The dependent variable for my project is the pH level of each hair care product.

1. Frist get five small cups to put your liquids in.

2. Second label the cups and pour your liquids in the cup.

3. Next take one of your pH scale papers and place it gently into the cup.

4. Then take your napkin and place it on the table and put your pH paper on top of it.

5. Last look at what color the pH paper is and write it down in your note book.

6. Repeat the same thing for the others.

Hypothesis

Materials

The pH scale was presented by a man named Soren Sorensen in 1909. Soren Sorensen is a Danish chemist from Denmark.

According to the Carlsberg Foundation pH stands for "power of hydrogen".

Since I learned that there could be harmful things in my hair care product from doing my research, I predicted that the Sulfate-Free shampoo is the one that is bad for our hair. And the Nupotion (Locking Solution) is harmless.

• pH level paper

• pH scale

• Cups

• Napkins

• Curl Defining Cream, Curls unleashed Leave-in Conditioner and Sulfate-Free Shampoo, Tangle Taming leave-in Conditioner, and Nupotion Locking Solution.

• A note book to record what you find

The products that are in the picture is not the products i used for this project

Investigative Question

Why did I do This Project?...

What am I finding out by doing this project?

What I Hope to Learn...

What is my Investigation Question is.....

What I am finding out by doing this project is what things hair companies are putting in their products.

I decided to do my project on the pH levels of hair care products. I picked 5 different hair care products that my family uses.

My Investigation question is "Which hair care product is bad for me and my families hair?"

What i am hoping to learn is if the hair products that my family and I use is good for our hair.
