Community

Jonas' community is a dystopian world which means that it seems like a perfect world but in reality its not a perfect world. I chose this because the whole book is about the community of Jonas'.

THE PILLS

The theme was expectations and the pills relate to this because Jonas' community expects to take pills for their stirrings and for us that means puberty, but Jonas is the only one that does not take the pills.

Jonas v.s. society

Release

The conflict between Jonas and the society is to be expected not to see the colours, but only Jonas can see the colours. The first colour that Jonas saw was red which was Fiona's hair, his community can only see black and white.

What release is all about is that its pretty much just death and how that happens is if you apply for release. And they'll ingect a needle in you which will give you reactions and put you in a box that is shaped like a cylinder. Rosemary the old receiver applied for release and got sent away. For this topic I chose the symbol needle to explain this.

Jonas and the Giver

LOVE

The characters Jonas and the Giver are important because they are the ones that hold memories and Jonas is the Receiver. the symbol I chose was the lion because Jonas is brave and has a lot of courage by being brave about going to another community, about the warfare, about holding all the memories and more.

Love is the word that Jonas' community does not know and Jonas' parents said that love is a meaning less word for everyone but Jonas was concerned if that his parents love him. love is the symbol I chose to represent this.

Gabriel

Memories

Gabriel is the main person in the family besides Jonas because after Jonas gets released everyone will depend on Gabriel to be the next receiver but the problem is that Gabriel is too young to be in that position and take responsibility. I chose a baby to be the symbol because its a main thing to talk about.

The memories are the dreams and imaginations of someone elses that Jonas' holding in him. The Giver is getting weak so he needed another person to hold all of the memories that person is called receiver. I chose a brain to explain the book because memories is mentioned in most parts of the book.

Bicycles

Family

The bicycles are expected to be rode at the age of 9 and the committee of elders secretly teach them to ride a bike in a younger age. I chose the bicycles as a symbol because they are expected to ride a bike at the age of 9.

Jonas' family members are his mom, dad, his baby brother and his name is Gabriel. All of the family members are required to follow the rules but Jonas his rules of being a receiver was that he can lie and he did and to his own parents that was his first lie. i chose family as a symbol because Gabriel is the main person in the family.
