Can you pop the bubble and make a speech sandwich?

Hello Year 2, I'm the Iron Man!

Inverted commas are the posh (Key Stage 2) words for speech marks!

How to make a speech sandwich:

How did you do?

Are your speech sandwiches fully filled and tasty?

1. Pop the speech bubble (a pokey finger is good for this if you do not have a sharp knife handy).

2. Carefully arrange your first layer of inverted commas (Your lovely teacher will show you how).

3. Add ALL of the speech.

4. Now make sure you have added all of the punctuation to flavour your speech.

5. Carefully arrange your final layer of inverted commas.

Inverted Commas

What is an inverted comma?

  • Now listen carefully to the Mr Faulkner and Miss Barrass.

  • Write down what they say in the speech bubbles.

  • Pop the bubbles and underneath make a speech sandwich for what they are saying.

  • Remember do not leave any of the tasty filling (especially the punctuation) outside of the inverted commas.
