People fish so much that people just leave their fishing containers in the river. When people walk the paths near the river, they leave trash which eventually blows away into the river causing more pollution.
Woodland Indians among other have been in the area for over 2,000 years. Huggins Island was a place for hunting and fishing before Theophilus. The founder of Swansboro reached the area in 1730.
