17 Day Diet

This diet plan requires participants to follow a strict diet for 17 days, then to switch to another diet. This diet consists of four cycles, each of which have specific guidelines for the participants to follow. They are to go though each cycle in order to lose weight, if they do not lose weight or regain any weight the participant is suppose to return the beginning of the cycle. This constant change in diet is suppose to keep your bodies metabolism on its toes, and increase weight loss.

The 17 day diet originated from a man named Md, Mike Monroe. He believed that this diet would allow a person to change the rate of their metabolism and be able to lose weight faster.,

This diet has four cycles that participants must go through.

Cycle 1: Is called the accerlate phase. This phase limits particpants yo eat only 1200 kcal, lean protien ans starchy vegtables.

Cycle 2: The activate stage. Allows particapnts to increase calories by 500g a meal, and to eat two servings of whole grain carbs per meal.

The Four Cycles

Cycle 1: The accelerate cycle, limits participants to 1200 calories a day, and prohibits the eating of sugary or processed foods. Requires participants to eat lean protein and non starchy vegetables.

Cycle 2: The Activate stage, allows participants to increase their calories by 500, and to eat two servings of whole grains a meal. This is recommended in order to increase gut motility and promote weight loss.

Cycle 3: The achieve phase allows participants to eat the meals from cycle 1 and 2 but to also indulge on one snack a day under 500 calories and one alcoholic beverage a week.

Cycle 4: Is the arrive stage , at this stage you can follow cycle twos meals during the week, but eat whatever you want on the weekend.

Cons: This diet deprives the body of adequate calories, causing the body to rely on fat instead of glucose for energy, this means placing the body in a form of ketone acidosis, which the body should only go under during a form of fasting.

This diet also lifestyle change although participants may lose weight in the first two cycles, they will regain their weight back in the last cycles when the can eat whatever they want.

This constant cycling of diets could also cause a participant to initially gain more adipose stores, and require even less calories than before to try to lose weight placing their bodies into more stress during the next round of cycles.

Pros: This diet allows you to receive most of your nutrients and minerals. This diet is moderately easy to do.
