NON-INFECTIOUS DISEASES

What can cause cells to become cancerous?

First, the cell starts to grow and multiply. Over time, more changes may take place. The cell and its descendants may eventually become immortal, escape destruction by the body's defences, develop their own blood supply and invade the rest of body.

Cholesterol and triglycerides

What are they?

Treatment and prevention

of each of the diseases

Soft, fat-like substance found in the bloodstream and in all your body’s cells. Your body makes all the cholesterol it needs. The saturated and trans fats you eat may raise your blood cholesterol level. Having too much cholesterol in your blood may lead to increased risk for heart disease and stroke.

Non-infectious diseases are not transmitted to other people. They are not contagious, another name for them is Intrinsic or non-communicable diseases.

Cell

Cells are the basic building blocks of all living things.

Cancer cells are cells that grow and divide at an unregulated, quick pace. Although cancer cells can be quite common in a person, they are only malignant when the other cells (particularly natural killer cells) fail to recognize and/or destroy them.

Down syndrome: there is no treatment but there are some therapies which can help to have a productive life.

Cystic fibrosis: there is no cure for this but there are treatments which can reduce some complications.

Diabetes: the treatment of this disease is based on three pillars: diet, physical exercise and medication.

Celiac: there is no cure for this, the only treatment is a gluten-free diet.

Osteoporosis: this disease treatment includes: calcium, vitamin D, weight-bearing exercise, prevention of falls, and bone-friendly medicines.

Are non infectious diseases

a major cause of mortality?

Why?

Non infectious diseases have caused 68% of the deaths of the population last year. Cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes were three non communicable diseases which caused the deaths. So we could say that this type of diseases are a major cause of mortality.

they are piled in the arteries causing

breathing problems.

Is a hormone made by the pancreas that allows your body to use sugar (glucose) from carbohydrates in the food that you eat for energy or to store glucose for future use.

Some habits in our lifestyle

a non infectious disease

Down syndrome, Cystic fibrosis,

Chimerism, Heterochromia and

Huntingtons.

With which disease is

insulin associated

Diabetes or Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM),

Non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM), Some pregnant women require more insulin than their body can produce during pregnancy, Impaired glucose tolerance and prediabetes.

As a result of changes in the way we

eat and live, some chronic diseases are increasingly affecting both developed and developing countries. Indeed, diet-related chronic diseases - such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, dental disease, and osteoporosis - are the most common cause of death in the world and present a great burden for society.
