BEHAVIORAL ADAPTATION
Vocalization is a behavioral adaptation lions have developed to communicate within their group. Lions hum and make a puffing sound when they approach each other with good intentions. Grunting is a sound they make to keep in touch with each other when they are moving from one area to another. The most common is the roar. Females roar to protect their cubs and to call other females to help fight an intruder off. Males roar to specify their location, display their strength, and signal other animals to stay away from the pride.
DIET
Lions are meat eaters. They have been observed to be quite picky about the prey they hunt, and zebras are high on their list. Zebras also have a high body mass which provides sufficient food for the lions.

STRUCTURAL ADAPTATIONS

Large and sharp claws are one of the best adaptations of lions. They use their sharp claws to kill their prey and tear meat from the prey's body. Sharp claws are also used for defense and to display the lion's strength and power to other animals.
The lion's tan colored fur is another adaptation. The tan colored fur helps it to blend with the color of the surroundings which prevents it from being attacked by predators and competitors.
