Tomas Robinson reached around, ran his fingers under his left arm and lifted it. He guided his arm to the bible and his rubber-like left hand sought contact with the black binding. As he raised his right hand, the useless one slipped off the bible and hit the clerk's table.

"Nobody said, 'Thats just their way,' about the Ewells."

Tom Robinson was probably the only person who was ever decent to her.

"Well, i went up the steps an' she motioned me to come inside, and i went in the front room an' looked at the door. I said miss mayella, this door look all right."

-she was laughin', sort of- she says they all gone to town to get ice creams. She says, 'took me a slap year to save seb'm nickels, but I done it.'

"So i done what she told me, an' i was just reachin' when the next thing i knows she- she'd grabbed me round the legs, grabbed me round th' legs, Mr. Finch"

"Mr.Finch, i got down offa that chair an' turned around an' she sorta jumped on me."

"Jumped on you? Violently?"

"No suh, she- she hugged me. She hugged me round the waist."

"I just want the whole lot of you to know one thing right now. That boy's worked for me eight years an' i ain't had a speck of trouble outa him. Not a speck"

Summary:

This chapter is all about Tom robinson getting up ont the witness stand to testify his innocence. First, Atticus asked him questions to show his background and to show he had nothing to hide. Then he asked about his story of the day of the accused rape. The man Tom robinson worked for, pleaed for his innocence against the rules. Mr.Gilmer cross refrenced the 2 stories and Dill began to cry, so scout had to take him out.
