EXAMPLE
MAIN CLAUSE
The clause that a subordinate clause depends on is called the Main clause or Principal clause.
SUBORDINATE CLAUSE
Eg;
I knew that she was very worried.
Show me what you're doing.
This is the house where I was born.
A subordinate clause is a clause that depends on another clause. A subordinate clause is also called a dependent clause.
Eg:
- I knew that she was worried.
- What he told me made no sense at all.
- I slipped on a patch of ice while I was running for the bus.
CLAUSES
The smaller sentences that are linked to form a larger sentence are called CLAUSES
