What Happened?
On November 28th, 1969, Betsy was walking to the Pattee Library, after talking to her professor about a research paper. He sent her to the library to gather materials for the research. sometime around 4:45, she surrendered to an unknown assailant. She was stabbed once through her breastbone and fell down. The few witnesses thought that she had a seizure because her blood was disguised by her red dress. She was rusher to the nearest hospital and declared dead at 5:20 pm. The next day her death was ruled a homicide and the investigation began...

in her 40 years of life she has not had any enemies. The witnesses were not very helpful, which was the cause of the cold case. the only lead on finding the culprit was from the few witnesses and the desk clerk, which stated that there was a man fleeing the scene saying, "somebody better help that girl" and leaving. There are two police sketches that depict a male perpetrator.
An ambulance was called at 5:01 p.m. She was pronounced dead upon arrival. An autopsy by forensic pathologist Thomas J. Mangani showed that a 1 1/2 inch wound, entering the heart through the left breast, killed Betsy.The murder weapon was a single-edged knife, The stab wound caused massive hemorrhaging in Betsy’s body and would have required much strength to commit.
This picture is believed to be less accurate and nobody has ever seen a man the resembled him. So, they brought in more witnesses.
They came up with this picture, with mostly the help of the worker at the library at the time and short glances at a suspicious character at the scene.
