Green form

Blue form

Each item is scored on a scale ranging from one to four

1 - normal for child’s age

2 - mildly abnormal

3 - moderately abnormal

4 - severely abnormal

Total scores can range from a low of 15 to a high of 60;

  • < 30 indicate that the individual is in the non-autistic.
  • 30 to 36.5 indicate mild to moderate autism.
  • 37 to 60 indicate severe autism

Pros and Cons

is used with children younger than 6 years of age and those with communication difficulties or below-average estimated IQs (79 or lower)

is an alternative for assessing verbally fluent individuals or children 6 years old or above, or children with IQ scores 80 or higher

Pros:

- Scores show a consistent, strong, positive, and specific relationship with autism diagnosis.

- Ratings are reliable across time, settings, sources of information, and raters.

Cons:

- The amount of time needed to obtain results

- potential need for trained interviewers or clinical observation.
