Susan Wright: Blue Eyed Butcher

Motive

Susan Wright claimed her husband had been beating her for years and also stated that her husband had stood over her and said' "Die B***h" before she had stabbed him to death. This motive was clearly a death by revenge, hate, and anger.

Sentencing

The Crime

The Case

Susan Wright murdered her husband Jeffrey Wright by tying him to their bed and stabbing him in his sleep over 200 times. The medical examiner was only able to count 193 stab wounds. She buried her husband in the back yard and through out the bloody mattress and other things in the back yard as well.

She was originally sentenced to 25 years on first degree murder but an appeal court overturned her sentence saying her attorneys had bungled the case. The second go around she was then sentenced to 20 years and will be eligible for parole in 2014.

In Court hearing she plead not guilty by self defense

Susan Wright's defense attorney's stated in court that she murdered her husband in a heat of passion after years of beatings. To prove the husband was violent they brought in an ex girlfriend who testified saying he also repeatably beat her and pushed her down a flight of stairs. The prosecutors argued she murdered Jeffery Wright because she was tired of the married life and she was angry at the husband's drug use and frequent late night outings.
