The Story of Rostam and Sohrab is a tragedy. Rostam, the Prince of Kabul, goes to the Kingdom of Samangan in search of his horse. The king's daughter Tahmina goes to his room, knowing of his reputation, offers to find his horse, if he gives her a child. Rostam later gives Tahmina a bracelet to give to their child if one is born(Sohrab). When Sohrab turns 10, he asks Tahmina who his father was. Sohrab is told that his father is "the great warrior Rostam" and given the bracelet. The Kingdoms of Kabul and Samangan end up in conflict and go to war. Rostam and Sohrab end up fighting in single battle. Sohrab is reluctant to fight and tells Rostam he does not wish to fight. Rostam thinking it is a trick, mortally wounds Sohrab.
Rostam is a holy warrior, prince of Kabul, and later king, known for his great strength, respected through all kingdoms. He was a believer of the Sistan religion.
The Shahnameh is a long epic poem, written by the Persian poet Ferdowsi, taking 33 years to complete. It tells mainly the mythical but also to some extent, the historical past of the Persian Empire.
Fun Fact: He dressed in a special suit to battle called the Babr-e Bayan. It was fireproof, waterproof, and invulnerable to weapons. It had 3 layers, and was made out of a skin of a leopard
Baba is comparable to Rostam, because Baba did not tell Hassan and Amir are related. Amir made Hassan leave the house. When Amir left to America with Baba, Hassan did not go with them since Amir drove him out. Hassan returns to the house, and is shot by the Taliban.
Hassan is comparable to Sohrab since he never knew who his real father was, and was killed before being able to learn who his father was, the same way Sohrab was (killed).
Had Baba told them they were related, Amir wouldn't have driven Hassan out and Hassan would still be alive, living in America with Amir.
For both Hassan and Sohrab, things would have probably turned out better had they known who their fathers were. For Hassan, he would have been in America, living a better life. For Sohrab, probably something similar, living with his father in his kingdom.
Sohrab was the son of Rostam and the Princess of Samangan Tahmina. Before Rostam left, he gave Tahmina a bracelet to give to their child if they had one. Tahmina gave Sohrab the bracelet at age 10, after Sohrab asked who his father was. The bracelet later identified him as Rostam's son after Rostam killed him.
Amir is comparable Rostam as well, at least in the fact both of them killed their relatives without knowing they were related. Amir did not stand up for Hassan when Hassan was raped. Not only that, but he becomes cold towards Hassan, and drives Hassan out of the house. This led to Hassan's eventual death, as Hassan would have gone to America with Baba and Amir, rather than be shot by the Taliban protecting their home.
Rostam was unaware that the man he was fighting was his own son, and ended up killing him, even though his son told him he refused to fight.
