Differences

  • In "Brenden's Death Song" it was written for the death of a band member; a mourning song
  • In "Mourning Grace", Maya Angelou writes about if she dies and goes on to explain death and asks whoever it's about if they would mourn for her.

Similarities

  • Both could be written about someone
  • Both are about death/dying.

"Mourning Grace"

Maya Angelou

Mrs. Mcginnis`s Poem Project

If today I follow death,

go down its trackless wastes,

salt my tongue on hardened tears

for my precious dear time’s waste

race along that promised cave

in a headlong deadlong haste,

Will you have the grace to mourn for me?

What it Means

Kayla Fitzgerald, Kayli Pembleton,Kyleigh Messer

She is saying that if she died and went down death's unmarked territory and cried for wasting her time would whoever the poem is for mourn for her.
