Diamond poems get their name from the diamond shape you see when the poem is completed. Diamond poems have 7 lines.

They start and end with

opposite nouns.

Concrete Poems

Child

young, energetic

skipping, hopping, laughing

change, growth - development, skills

working, achieving, success

older, wiser

Adult

Noun: person, place, or thing

Examples: butterfly, summer

  • Line 1 - noun (1 word)
  • Line 2 - two adjectives describing first noun (2 words)
  • Line 3 - three adjectives describing first noun (3 words)
  • Line 4 - changing from first to second noun (2 each, 4 words)
  • Line 5 - three adjectives describing last noun (3 words)
  • Line 6 - two adjectives describing last noun (2 words)
  • Line 7 - opposite noun (1 words)

Adjective: describing word

Examples: fuzzy, bright, green

Concrete poetry is arranged on the page to show the topic you are writing about VISUALLY.
