The Ordinary World

'”I do really wish to destroy it! Or, well, to have it destroyed. I am not made for perilous quests. I wish I had never seen the Ring! Why did it come to me? Why was I chosen?”

- Frodo Baggins

Challenges and Temptations

The Hero is Frodo, who is a normal hobbit that lives in a house underground in The Shire. As Frodo was coming home he encountered his uncle Bilbo who was finishing his writing of his own adventures. Bilbo was the 2nd keeper of the One Ring and never gave it back to Gandalf. Bilbo fails to hide the ring from Frodo and once Frodo finds the ring, his mind slowly begins to corrupt.

Some Challenges and Temptations Frodo and the Fellowship had to face were escaping the wrath of Balrog, resisting Boromir’s urge to take the ring, separating from the Fellowship, defeating Shelob, and facing the destruction of the ring.

The Return

“Do you remember the Shire, Mr. Frodo? It'll be spring soon and the orchards will be in blossom, and the birds will be nesting in the hazel thicket. And the whistle in the summer barley in the Lower fields. And eating the first of the strawberries with cream. Do you remember the taste of strawberries?”

- Samwise Gamgee

Frodo’s return takes a turn for the worse for his good friend Sam. As Frodo wakes up from his coma, he is asked to leave and sail with the elves to the Undying Lands because of a wound inflicted by one of the Nazgûl. This is a one-way trip and only Frodo is allowed to sail with the Elves. Meanwhile Sam is left in the Shire to continue writing the story Frodo left for Sam to finish.

The Abyss

Introduction

This presentation will Chronicle Lord Of The Rings as my Hero's Journey. This will show my favorite parts and quotes of the journey.

The Atonement

The Abyss is when Frodo, Gollum, and Sam set out by themselves for Mt.Doom. This is the climax of the story since this is the point of no return in where Frodo and Sam with the blind guidance of Gollum, set out to destroy the ring. The abyss shows these brave adventurers setting out without protection from the Fellowship to complete their one task to save all of Middle-Earth.

The Atonement is when Frodo finally reaches Mt.Doom and throws the One Ring into the fires to destroy it. Frodo at this moment realizes that he has save Middle-Earth and that his journey was meant for him to end up there.
