it is a short statement at the begininng of your CV

If you are writing your profile with a specific job in mind then you should make every effort to include in it the skills and experience that the job advert or job description has stated as desirable and/or essential.

You can mention some skills, personal qualities and some work experience that will help show you are perfect for the specific job

  • State dates you attended & received
  • Any others such as:

speak other languages, have particular IT or project management skills etc...

  • Name of the company
  • Dates to and from
  • What your role/ position was?
  • What your key responsibilities were?
  • Your achievements & success in your roles
  • Usually when listing your career history - do it in reverse chronological order (in order when occurred)

  • Your skills and strengths fit smoothly in the 'key skills' section of your CV

  • Doing them as bullet points makes them easier for employers to read or put them in bold.

  • You can give examples of where you've displayed some of your skills,

e.g. "self-motivated and able to meet deadlines, as shown by completing my own project during my summer internship in 2014"

  • it essentially "sell" your skills, abilities, qualifications and experience to employers

Here you can mention any interests or hobbies you may want to share

for example "you like to run and recently ran a marathon"

You can also state some achievements you've accomplished

Tips for a great CV!

  • Make sure your grammar & spelling is correct

  • Clearly layout - logically in order

  • Clearly divided using headings

  • Informative but not cluttered with too much information

  • Make sure your content is accurate - be honest

  • Tailor your CV for the job e.g. childcare job, state your skills patient,

  • Be positive

  • Up-to-date

  • No more than two A4 pages

  • Typed in Arial or Times New Roman

  • Font size 11 or 12
