Ostriches are born from the largest bird eggs on earth. They measure 11 x 18 across and can weigh approximately 1400 grams. The eggs have a shiny white tint to reflect the sun's heat so as to not overheat. The parents shall protect their young in the nest from predators day and night. The eggs will begin to start hatching after about 40 days. Both the male and the female will look after the chicks
The way that the ostriches reproduce is similar to the way humans do. The ostriches have some of the same reproductive organs as humans do.
Ostriches reproduce via sexual reproduction. They have some of the same reproductive organs as humans so they reproduce the same way. Females will only mate with one male, but a male can mate with several females. They can lay anywhere from 10- 70 eggs.
The ostriches find a mate by the male dancing and the female choosing. After reproduction, they male and female will care for the eggs and baby chicks. The female will protect the nest during the day because its colors are harder to see in the day. The male will protect the nest at night because its dark colors make it harder to see.
Ostriches lay eggs while humans don't. Ostriches give birth to many chicks while humans only give birth to one at a time. One dominant male and one dominant female watch over all of the eggs in the herd's nest.
