What is was his life berfore and after politics?

Starting his life

Robert was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia on November 10, 1811. He was raised by Robert McGowan Dickey and Eleanor Chapman. He went to school at Windsor academy for his primary years and at the age of fifteen he went to law school. His carrer before politics was both a judge and registrar of probate. He had five kids with his wife Mary Blair which he married in 1844. He sadly died at the age of 91 in 1903.

In 1900 one of Robert's children drowned and that broke Robert very bad and just three years later Robert passed away. He died of old age in his hometown.

He was a good guy in our history. He was not the biggest contributer to our history and he does not get talked about as much as some other people, but he was at some of the conferences and helped with decisions.

Robert's stance on confederation was he was pro on confederation. He strongly opposed to Nova Scotia joing confederation.
