The Cenozoic Era is the era, this is the era that we live in, now. So far it has lasted 66 million years to present day. The era before the Cenozoic was the Mesozoic era. The Cenozoic era has 3 periods the, Paleagena, Neogene, and the Quaternary.
66 million to the present day today
In the Paleolgene period, the landscape started changing and vast oceans stretched across the Earth. The Rocky Mountains started to take shape around 300 million years ago. The weather in the Paleolgene was like a tropical rain forest.
65-23 million years ago
In the Neogene period, the ocean levels started to rise and the ocean creatures started to evole. The Himalayes Moutain and the Alps started to form around 50 million years ago. In the Neogene, it was like a other Ice Age. the weather started dropping.
23-2.6 million years ago
In the Qauternary period, the climate got warmer, which brought a lot a species to go extinct. Since the temperatures got warmer some of the edible plants started to grow and the discovery of the first huminiod.
2.6 million to present day
Cenozoic period was much warmer than it is today. Climate was much more cosistent reguardless of the length to the eqautor. Each part of the Cenozoic period experienced diffrent climates Palogene period it was tropical then, the Neogene period was very cool, and then the Qauternary period came along and it is the same weather we have, now

In the Cenozoic era the ocean levels rose and dropped meanwhile the continents slowly moved into the postion they are today.
The Cenozoic Era is also know as the Age of Mammals A lot has changed in animals from the begining of the era to the present. For example at the begining of the era there were woolly rhinoeroses but now we have animals like dogs and cats.
The plants in this era are simular to the plants we have now. Some of the plants are pines, moses, oaks, grasses, flowering plants, eblibe crops, ferns, conifers, gingos, cycads, palm trees, and evergreen trees.
