Background info:

background information

Hestia was the eldest child of Rhea and Cronus. Her brothers are, Zeus, Poseidon, and Ares. Her sisters are Hera and Demeter. She lives on the sacred Mount Olympus and has lived there for her entire life. Her father, Cronus, had heard a prophecy stating that one of his children would overthrow and murder him, so to prevent that from happening he ate Hestia and her siblings. He did not eat Zeus, instead her mother gave him a rock, and after he ate the rock he vomited his children up, and Zeus killed him.

Brothers and Sisters

Zeus, god of the sky and thunder, Poseidon, god of the sea, and Hades, god of the underworld, are Hestia's three brothers. Hera, goddess of marriage and birth, and Demeter, goddess of fertility, sacred law, agriculture, and harvest, are her two sisters.

The hearth in the peoples homes, and the fire that burns within it, are the main symbols that she stands for. Being the goddess of the hearth, home fire, and the state, the people celebrate, or worship, her by keeping the fire in their hearth lit, no matter the season or occasion.

Animal/Object relations

Hestia is known as the goddess of fire, hearth, and home, so people often relate the hearth and fire to her. A hearth is basically a small fireplace in the middle of the house so that the warmth of the fire inside of it could spread to the entire house. The people beleived that as long as they fed the fire, Hestia would keep the fire going. As far as animal relations go, Hestia was related with the donkey.

Weaknesses

Weaknesses

Hestias only weaknesses were her gentleness and cool nature. Hestia was not angered easily and that was an advantage to the other gods and goddesses. Another weakness of hers is her lack of a spouse. Hestia made a vow to never marry after Poseidon and Apollo told Zeus that there would be a war if he didn't chose one of them to marry Hestia.

Myths

There is one main myth about Hestia. In that myth, Poseidon, god of the sea, and Apollo, god of archery and music, both fall in love with her. They both go to Zeus and say that if Zeus didn't pick one of them to be Hetsia's suitor there would be a war. Hestia, not liking arguements, solved the entire problem quite simply. She said that she shall never marry
