Australia
There are many climate regions of Australia. Some of these include tropical, desert, grassland, equitorial, etc. Australia is really close to the equator, making it a very hot, and sometimes dry climate. The geographical regions of Australia are very diverse. Australia has miles and miles of coastline, Australia also has very flat ranges as well as plateau's. The plateau ranges have mountain ranges running through them aswell. The last region I'll talk about is the religous region, or lack there of. Australia's population is mostly christian, with Christianity being 48% of the religion the population follows. But 38% of australia follow no religion at all. Thats pretty suprising to me, 38% is a big number and I would think more people would follow a religion. Australia is actually pretty similair to North America if you look at similiarities between the regions I just talked about. For example, in both Australia and North America, Christianity is the dominant religion among the populations. Another similairity is the geographical regions. North America has very diverse geographical regions spanning from mountain ranges, flat, and deserts. This is much like austrlia because of how diverse each are. I think these similairities can unite Australians and Americans because we feel at home geographically and religously when we visit eachothers countries.
Goods, ideas, and people move around frequently. When goods move around, such as food, tools, resources etc, it can bring people together. When countries trade, buy, and sell goods from other countries, it creates a relationship between those two countries that can be good for both of those countries cultures. This can also create some tension in those cultures. Say we get a lot of chinese food imported to the united states. The Chinese people and their culture in America would feel enriched and happy they they have their native food. BUT, the other cultures may feel that it is unfair and sad that they didnt get food from their cultures. This is just an analogy but it shows how tension could come from the movement of things such as food.
The movement of goods can be shown in many different ways. One exmaple could be the way food is moved. Lots of times, places that can't grow certain foods get that food imported from other places. Another example is clothing. Lets say you find a really cool pair of shoes that you want but they aren't in the local shops near you. You might have to order that shoe from another state. This happens on a much larger scale too. Countries that make a lot of phones typically have them shipped to America and other countries.
The movement of people is a little different than the movement of goods. People tend to move based on a places environment. For example, if someone from Arizona really did not like the heat, they might move to somewhere like colorado or Alaska. This can also happen on a larger scale. For example, If someone grew up in a really communist country or a country that isnt very safe, they might want to move across the world to somewhere thats more safe. In doing this, they can start a family in this new safe place, putting their culture in this new place. Which can grow their culture.

A very big physical characteristic of Australia is Australia's Outback. The outback is a vast desert plain that is very dry and inhabitable. It covers most of the center of Australia and is home to many reptiles and small rodents. Another big characteristic of Australia is its beaches. Australia has over 10,000 beaches! These physical aspects of Australia affect the population greatly. Because of the dry, arid outback taking the center of the country, 85 percent of Australians live on the coasts. The amazing beaches, and the people living so close to them is a perfect environment for surfers. Surfing is a major part of Australia’s culture. The beaches are perfect for surfing and people come from all over the world just to surf Australia’s beaches. An article from “BeachesofAustralia.com” says “Australia is the perfect place for surfing because of the swells that the island receives. In surfing terms, this means that waves will be consistent, always giving a great surf.” If you think Australia can’t get any cooler, you will be surprised to find that Australia also has many rainforests. The rainforests are in the eastern and northern coasts. The rainforests are home to species such as tree frogs, ringtail possums, and more.
Australia is a country that sits between the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. The Pacific Ocean is to its east and the Indian to its west. Australia is southeast of Asia and northwest of New Zealand. The absolute location of Australia’s capital, Canberra, is 35.2802° S, 149.1310° E. The location of Australia tells us a lot about the country. Australia is surrounded by vast Oceans and it's very close to the equator. The location tells me that Australia is a place with high temperatures, beaches, and definitely tourism. Australia is tucked away far from the Americas and it isn’t a very big country. Based on this, I would say that Australia is not a big world superpower.
Humans can modify, adapt to,and depend on their environment by using it to boost the economy. For example, in Summit County, we get lots of our money from ski resorts that we make. We modify this by blowing snow and making runs. We adapted because we used the mountains to make money. We depend on it because it gives us jobs, and other jobs like shops and stores depend on the tourism that the mountains bring. In Australia, they're limited because the whole country is sourrounded by water, the closest land to Austrlia is New Zealand, which is a 5 and a half hour flight. Another constraint is the extreme heat Australia faces. In 2022, there has been temperatures as high as 122 degrees fahrenheit. People adapt to this heat by keeping their houses cool with AC, drinking lots of water, and always wearing sunscreen. Also, because Australia is sourrounded by water. people have adapted by surfing. Surfing is big in Australia, it is also a good way to cool off in the water. One more big constraint is australias dry outback. The outback makes it hard for crops to grow. Farmers have adapted and created greenhouses in the outback. They use gravel instead of soil and they use water that fish have used which gives the plants nutrients. Freshwater constanly flows through these gravel bed. This is a unique and smart way to grow crops in the unforgiving outback of Australia.
