Henry Ford

Early Life

  • Ford was born on July 30, 1863 in Dearborn, Michigan
  • At the age of 16, Ford walked to Detroit to find work in its machine shops.
  • When Ford returned home, he worked for Westinghouse Engine Company.
  • Ford built a small "farm locomotive," which was a tractor that used an old mowing machine and a homemade steam engine.

Model T

  • The affordable, easy to operate, and durable Model T was introduced in 1908.
  • The Model T was manufactured on the Ford Motor Company's assembly line, and it was sold between $260 and $850.
  • More than 15,000,000 Model T's were built and sold
  • By the early 1920s more than half of the automobiles in the world were Fords.
