In ENG150 our jargon relates to WCU and CLS260 in the ways we talk about buildings around campus, D2L, and the terms we use when analyzing writing styles and texts we've read.
For all of these discourse communities you must be accepted into the community in one way or another by a more experienced member of the community after having done something to be offered acceptance into the community.
In all of these discourse communities we use speaking and body language to communicate what point we are trying to get across.
In ENG150 we have many unspoken rules that relate to both WCU and CLS260 such as not speaking over others, going to class prepared, paying attention, and always doing our best.
In CLS260 just as in ENG150 you must enroll in the course to become a part of the community and you must participate to remain a part of the community.
the unspoken rules of CLS260 are the same as in ENG150 with the addition of not using a laptop/phone in class as the electronics policy is different.
In CLS260 we use the same slang(jargon) as we do in both the WCU and ENG150/WRT120 communities.
In CLS260 we use communication forms that are similar to WCU and ENG150 as we all email, speak, show up to class, and use D2L.
In the WCU community we use email, text, and speaking to communicate with one another(fundamentals of communication used in other discourse communities as well.)
In this discourse community we use the same slang as in CLS260 and ENG150.
This discourse community relates to wrestling as you must be disciplined, respectful, accept your losses and victories, and remain dedicated even if something doesn't go your way.
Becoming involved in this discourse community you must apply, be a somewhat impressive applicant, then be accepted by the admissions office to be a member of the community.
You must join the team(apply), do well to get matches(be accepted), then remain with the sport and improve to remain a part of the community(stay dedicated).
Wrestling's jargon is a bit different than the other discourse communities I have listed but the same fundamentals are still there(speaking and body language.)
The unspoken rules are much the same as others as each of these discourse communities require some form of effort to remain a part of them.
This communication form is a bit different than some of my other discourse communities as it involves more implied rules on what to do based on what your coach instructs you to do in match situations, training situations, and life situations(it does teach you a lot about life).
