Communication

All military students are entitled to a learning tablet with access to WiFi through your student ID. Please inform the instructors or contact the institute tech support directly if you are facing any issues connecting to the WiFi or accessing to Canvas via your own personal tablet. All course materials are accessible on Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).

The methods of instruction for this course include synchronous learning (Discussion, activities, simulation activities) and online asynchronous learning (online tutorials and discussions).

For this course, you will require WiFi, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, SAF Simulation System and Zoom. All of these are already installed in your personal learning tablet provided to you. If you faced any difficulties accessing any of these programs, please inform the instructors or contact the institute tech support immediately

Students will have a strong fundamental understanding to radio communications given that PRC 940 is the baseline to all radio communications used in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

Subsequently, students going into their different vocational postings and appointments would be able to make use of the knowledge and skillsets to transit into other types of specialized radio communications set required for their vocations.

As this is an online course, several learning takes place in an asynchronous learning environment. This means that most of the time learning, lectures and activities are conducted at your own time and pace instead of participating in real-time.

You are strongly encouraged to develop strong time management skills to balance out the coursework with your ongoing military duties. I would recommend for every student to read up on each assignment’s requirement and due date so that you can plan your schedule accordingly.

Describe the components and functions of PRC 940 in a online classroom environment according to the Signals Operational Manual.

Demonstrate PRC 940 configuration on a simulation system.

Late Assignments

Configure PRC 940 in a simulation field exercise context within 10 minutes in the correct sequence.

Late assignments will be assessed a point loss of 5% for each 24-hour period they are late unless prior agreement has been made with the instructor for an alternate due date.

Grading/Evaluation

There will be a total of 7 Assignments, which includes individual paper, peer critique, quizzes, simulation activity, discussion. More information can be found in the course syllabus with the exact percentages of each assignment.
