Louis Sachar's Father's name was Robert Sachar.His Mother's name was Ruth Sachar. He only had one sibling who was a brother, his name was Andy Sachar

When he was nine years old, his family moved to Tustin, California, where he spent the rest of his childhood. He was a good student, but didn't become interested in reading and writing until high school. Then, he discovered Kurt Vonnegut and J.D. Salinger, two writers who continue to influence his work.

Louis Sachar went to Antioch College in Ohio. But his father died during his first semester, so he returned back to calofornia to be near his mother. During that time he went door-to-door selling cleaning products.

After some time with his mother, he went to the University of California at Berkeley where he majored in Economics. When he graduated in 1976, he decided to try to write a children's book,which eventually became Sideways Stories From Wayside School. In the daytime, he had a job at a sweater warehouse in Connecticut.

After about a year, he was fired from the job he had at the sweater warehouse in Connecticut.and I decided to go to law school.Sideways Stories from Wayside School was accepted by a publisher during my first week at Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco.I finished law school, graduating in 1980, passed the bar exam

Sachar graduated from college and law school, but at the same time began writing children's books. He began his full time writing career in 1989. Over the years, he has published twenty-three novels and written the screenplay for the blockbuster movie Holes.

He is best known for the Wayside School series and the novel Holes. Holes won the 1998 U.S. National Book Award for Young People's Literature and the 1999 Newbery Medal for the year's "most distinguished contribution to American literature for children"

The idea for Holes came from the Texas heat. When Sachar left the cool bay breezes of San Francisco behind to live in Texas in 1991, he had a hard time getting used to the heat. "I came up with this place—Camp Green Lake in Texas—that was so hot even the lake dried up," Sachar said.

He got married to Carla Jean Askew in 1985. And had one daughter on January 19, 1987, her name is Sherre Sachar, Louis sachar is now living in texas
