The 13 Colony

Massachusetts

In 1620 the pligrims arived on the Mayflower with their settlement in Massachusetts. They left England to spreate from the Anglican Church. The people were sooned faced with a harsh winter, and so the near by natives from the Wampanoag trbie taught the pligrims how to farm and surive. And in 1621 the frist Thanksgiving was held in thanks of their new friendship.

North Carolina

North Carolina

North Carolina was founded in 1587 by John White, it weas the first settlement made by the English. Him along with 121 settlers landed in what is now know as Roanoke. A few years pass and John White needed to go back to England and he sooned returned to find nothing. All 121 people had vanished and still to this day is an unsloved mistry.

In 1607 John Smith lead a group of English settelers. Harsh winters hitt the colony and they sawt help from the neighborly natives. They tought them how to farm and they made huge profits from tabacco crops allowing the colony to thrive again.

Pennsylvania was found by Willam Penn in 1774. Willam Penn wa sgranted a charter to colonize the land from King Charles II. He wanted to crate a land for him and is fellow Quakers. They sout out to find peace.

Thomos Hooker founded connecticut in 1633. He along with a few others left the Masschusttes bay because they disaggred with many of their teaching. So Thomas Hooker a Puritan minister broke away from Masschusttes to begin his own chruch in Connecticut.

In 1610 a British exporler Henry Houdson discovered what is now known as the Hudson river, while the French/Ductch exporler Samuuel de Champlain founded the city of Quebec.Both the Dutch and the British were fighting agianst who found the land first. But the Brititsh won and renamed the New Foundland colony to New York.

In 1664 The Netherlands lost their orginal control over the land to the British. Which the British then split the colony giving control to Lord John Berkley, and Sir George Cartertet. Berkley was governer of the west side, while Cartertet was governer of the east side. They both edventullay sold their land and New Jersey and New York were under the same royal governer untill 1738

James Oglethrope found the last colony in 1732. He wanted a charter from the King to help the debt-ridden people of London. In 1740 the trustees gave way to slavery casuing many African Americans to be forced to work on farms, causing many problems in the future.

In 1636 Roger Willams was banned from Massachusets because of his beleifs. Which he then went on the found Rhode Island. Rhode Island became a place of "religous toloration" meaning anyone from any religon coulde live there. The colony had Jews, Quakers, Babtis and more living under one colony. Since Rhode Island had a free choice of religon it casue isusse with many of the naborjing colonies.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire was found in 1623. And was offically named New Hampshrie in 1629 by Captain John Mason. They gained most of their ecomony from fishing and trade. In 1641 to 1679 the area was under the gorvernment of Massachusetts. But in 1679 New Hampshire disaggred with to grovener of Massachusetts so they became a separate royal province.
