WORKS IN COLLABORATION IN SUPPORT OF FACULTY
Student Retention (Persistence): Entering college students remain, re-enroll, and continue their undergraduate education. (For example, first-year students return for their sophomore year.)
Educational Attainment: entering students persist to completion and attainment of their degree, program, or educational goal. (4-year college students persist to completion of the baccalaureate degree).
Academic Achievement: students achieve satisfactory or superior levels of academic
performance as they progress through and complete their college experience. (For
example, students avoid academic probation or qualify for academic honors.)
Student Advancement: students proceed to and succeed at subsequent educational and
occupational endeavors for which their college degree or program was designed to
prepare them. (For example, 2-year college students continue their education at a 4-year
college, or 4-year college students are accepted at graduate schools or enter gainful
careers after completing their baccalaureate degree.)
Holistic Development: students develop as “whole persons” as they progress through and
complete their college experience. This outcome consists of multiple dimensions
Assigned Success Coordinators: All students have been assigned a Success Coordinator. This can be found in their MyHU->Academics tab, as well as on transcripts and other university documents.
Pro-Active Outreach Schedule: Students have/will receive(d) a weekly outreach email, created with certain touchpoints in mind (Academic Probation, Start of the Semester, Advising/Registration)
One-on-One Appointments: Students can utilize our Microsoft Bookings link to make an appointment with any of the Student Success Coordinators (this does not have to be their assigned person).
Student Success Shop (Walk-In Clinics): Currently located in the Library, but soon moving to the Student Union, this allows students to stop by and ask general (or sometimes indepth questions) to any of our available Student Success staff. We have had a sizeable turn out for this in the first five weeks.
Programs: The upcoming Successful Launch, as well as an #Adulting 101 and Student Leadership series will provide additional non-appointment structured outreach. Collaborative events with Career Services and Experiential Learning are also forthcoming (such as next week's Graduate School and Public Service Careers workshops).
Corresponding with Faculty: We are happy to receive outreach (and will also reach out) in regards to student concerns and issues and assist in adressing them through email, phone or appointments.
STUDENT SUCCESS STAFF
We are part of Student Services and actively collaborate and work with our colleagues on issues and concerns.
We are looking to continue to work with faculty during the advising process. Shared Advising is pivotal in making sure our students persist and achieve.
Reach out to us if there concerns with a student, we are happy to work with you to address the situation.
Our goal is developmental, not transactional. We do work to make sure that students feel supported.
At the same time, we make sure that students understand expectations, and how to work and address their concerns in a fruitful manner with faculty.
