How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

synergy

i created synergy and brand recognition by doing the following:

1

I used the same image for my website home page and for my magazine advert, which was a screen shot I took from my music video, which makes it even more easy to link to one another.

The theme of my music video followed a very classic and posh lifestyle, which is why I wanted to brand the video in the same light, by keeping the poster minimal and clean, and making the website look very open, classic and white to keep it clutter free.

I kept the typography very similar in terms of style and font in my advert and on my website, through out.

I created synergy so that audiences can clearly see that through the three different media forms there is an association with a single product. (music video, website and advert)

Consistent use of one font enables record labels to establish an easily recognisable identity for their artists

Another way to create synergy is through images of your artist, as you saw previously, I used one image consistently for my advertising, to create a 'pop' image. This c reates a recognisable platform for my audience to identify with. I also added to the synergy by having that image be an screen shot from my music video in all products. Of course making sure that I was filming with a good camera was vital, which is why my screen grab also looks very good and clear in quality.

As you can see in the next slide, the image used on my website is very good quality:

The name of my album and the single from the music video was featured prominently in all three products, again to create synergy and enable the audience to become familiar with the 'look' of the album and artist.

challenges

5

One of the challenges I faced while creating brand identity was first of all to just figure out what kind of a brand I wanted to create, how to do it, and what I would need to put forward to catch the audience's eye, yet still have it relative to my work. Transferring the mood and atmosphere from my song from my music video to the website and advert was quite difficult to figure out, as those two platforms do not have the sound or moving images. I had to make use of colour, and page design to reflect the mood instead.

#2

I solved my problem by deciding to stick to a particular look with the model through out by using that one photograph, and by obeying just one theme; in terms of style, font, colours and so on. I stuck to white and black for the most part, creating an aesthetically pleasing monochromatic affect across all platforms, which created and added to my brand recognition process. I looked at it from another person's view point and came to the conclusion that by doing this I had created just the right amount of synergy and had not over done anything.
