Solar Energy (Passive System)

Thank You!

What is the Solar energy passive system

Passive solar energy is the use of the sun’s energy directly for either cooling or heating purposes.

What is Solar Energy (Passive System)

How does it work?

Passive solar technologies convert sunlight into usable heat and cause air movement for ventilating to heat and cool living spaces without active mechanical or electrical devices.

How does it work

Where is it used?

Passive solar energy Is used mostly on buildings, homes and businesses.

Where is it used

Passive Solar energy has advantages and disavantages

Advantages and disavantages

Adavntages

Advantages

It is renewable, clean for the environment, you don’t need direct sunlight, reduces energy bills.

Disadvantages

There is a limited amount of power, expensive, and the weather will affect how much energy is created.

Disadvantages

Future and Past

Past

Solar energy passive system has had models since 18th century. In 1767 the first solar energy collector was created by Horace de Saussure. It would used to heat food. Then in 1896 the thermosyphon water heater was invented and it is the oldest and most used solar energy passive energy. More and more models were remodeled and invented until what we have today.

Future

Future

This energy system will grow and prosper and by 2050 it could be about 45% of the energy used at this time. The biggest way this energy source could fail is if the prices get too expensive so that the population cannot afford it.

Fun fact

Fun Fact: Solar power is the most abundant energy source on earth

Fun fact and Opinion

Opinion

I learned that solar energy has been used or invented since 1767, and the most used passive solar energy collector is the thermosyphon water heater. (Jon)

I learned Solar energy passive systems are very old and are still used today. I think the solar energy passive system is interesting and amazing to learn about. (Benjamin)
